Custom user roles

Hi.

Could anyone tell me if it possible to create your own user roles? I am looking into restricting access in the editor so that only certain groups can change certain pages. The security page on the guide here shows how you can use the ItemAuthorizedRoles attribute to only allow certain groups to change an item and in the example it even has a custom role "NewsEditors" but I cannot find how you would go about adding that to the list of roles when you add a new user.

Could anyone point me in the right direction please?

Nevermind I have managed to solve this by enabling the security setting to display non page items and then editing users

Hi,

I am having a similar problem and I can't figure out how to add new Roles? Wherever I look only the 4 default ones are shown with no option to add new ones? 
What security setting are you talking about?

Ah, found it, nevermind. Right click on Users/Edit.
