Hello,

is it possible to reuse the n2cms tree view and content editor in a own ASP.NET MVC Application? I want to embedd the n2cms tree view into another apllication for showing some navigation trees build based on the database entries.

If it is possible, where I have to start? Would be glad for some suggestions.

Best regards,

prempel

Possible: probably. Easy: maybe not. A suggestion: Maybe you could implement some kind of json service over content and use this to load a jquery tree view component.

Thank you.

Probably I tell you a little bit more about what I want to do. We are developing an ecommerce plattform. This is based on .Net (ASP.NET MVC, ADO.NET) and consists of the "front-end" application, i. e. the online shop, and a "back-end" application for manage the online shop. What we need is cms functionality, so that a shop manager can manage some online shop web sites in the "back-end" application. So I need to embed the "N2CMS Editor" at one special Page in the "back-end" application to manage some Template sites for the "front-end".

The additional challenge is that I'm not experienced with .net and especially asp.net (mvc).

The first question is, is it possible to integrate n2cms the way I described? What would be the best solution and approach for this? Would also be glad about some "bird-eye views" on such integration solution.

Many thanks in advance

For someone "unexperienced" you seem to tackle quite complex things ;)

Anyway, it seems to me you are trying the hard way. Wouldn't it be easier to have N2 CMS wrapping the whole back-end? I mean, you can "ignore" N2 for all pages and just use N2 for "some" pages you want to use N2 on. It sure looks easier than trying to somehow "extract" the treeview, unless I misunderstand something, which is entirely possible :)

You're right. It's really a complex scenario ;) I hope it's to realise.

For the first I try the hard way, but it's seems to me the "cleanest" and straightforward one.  What I need is howto's for such scenarios and more basic information and documentation on n2cms. But where to find it?

As far as I know you won't find howtos on complicated scenarios like you're describing.  I would suggest to look at the Wiki on Google Code here: http://code.google.com/p/n2cms/w/list, and also the documentation on the website here: http://n2cms.com/Documentation/Startup_guide.aspx.
